INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR
SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING

Building permit must be posted on the site of construction and clearly visible from the road until completion of the project.

Your approved plans must be available at time of inspections. These are the “Approved” plans signed off on by Somerset County Building Inspections, LLC

MINIMUM 24 HOUR ADVANCE NOTICE IS REQUIRED TO OUR OFFICE 814-445-8133
Work shall not proceed until the field inspection has been approved

1. Superior Wall System-

   Footing: Prior to installing stone bed & setting walls.
   Foundation: After1st floor joist and deck are set, prior to backfilling.

Concrete/Masonry System-

             Footings: Prior to pouring concrete.
             Foundation: Prior to backfilling.

2. Aboveground Plumbing: Prior to covering, drainage & water line test required.
   
   
3. Electrical Rough-In: Prior to covering, all wiring & boxes shall be installed. All grounds shall be made for this inspection.
   
   
4. Mechanical Rough-In: Prior to covering. Gas piping test is required.
   
   
5. Framing: Prior to insulation or covering, but after heating, plumbing, and wiring rough-in approved.
   
   
6. Energy Conservation
   
   
7. Wall Board
   
   
8. Electrical Final: All equipment, fixtures, & devices shall be functional.
   
   
9. Mechanical Final: All equipment shall be set & functional.
   
   
10. Plumbing Final: All equipment & fixtures shall be set & functional.
    
    
11. Final: Prior to any use or occupancy.

CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY WILL BE ISSUED AFTER ALL INSPECTIONS ARE APPROVED
